The Bible Is A Gift Of God

2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Our appreciation for the gifts that others give us is a good measure of how we feel about them. How do you feel about God and how do you feel about the Bible?

When my parents gave me gifts of clothing or of other necessities, I did not appreciate them. When they gave me baseball gloves, games or toys I appreciated those things more. There are individuals who gave me gifts that I threw away and individuals who gave me gifts that I treasured. We can very accurately measure our love for God (or lack thereof) by our love (or lack thereof) for the Bible. If you love one, you will love the other. If you are bored with one, you will be bored with the other. If you despise one, you will despise the other. If you don*t spend time with one, you won*t spend time with the other. The more you love the Bible, the more you will be blessed by other believers who love it too and the more you will be a blessing to them.

One of the things the Lord changed about me when He made me a new creature was how I felt about His Word, the Bible. Before, it was boring and unsatisfying and He was boring and unsatisfying. After, it became an interesting delight and He became an interesting delight. Before, I could not understand the Bible and I could not understand God. Now I am beginning to understand it and I am beginning to understand Him. Before I didn*t love the Bible and I did not love God. Now I love God AND the Bible.

Job 23:12: Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Psalms 1:1: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Psalms 119:97: O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

Revelation 1:3: Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Luke 8:21: And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

James 1:22: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

You will not be a doer of the Word if you do not hear it, read it and love it.

Proverbs 28:9: He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
